Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam which killed 59 innocent people is so sad. Climate change is the biggest issue the world is facing and it needs to be addressed on an urgent basis (“Vietnam death toll from Typhoon Yagi jumps to 59,” Sept.9, Gulf Today website).

According to the report, the death toll in Vietnam from Typhoon Yagi jumped to 59, state media reported on Monday, as business leaders said the storm had been a "disaster" for the country's vital manufacturing sector. Yagi, according to meteorologists, the most powerful typhoon to hit northern Vietnam in 30 years, downed bridges, tore roofs off buildings and damaged factories after making landfall on Saturday carrying winds in excess of 149 kilometres (92 miles) per hour.

The world is paying a huge price facing frequent natural disasters due to climate change in the shape of typhoons, heat waves, heavy rain, forest fires and flooding.

The issue of global warming has to be addressed on a priority basis and I am sure the world is capable of solving it and keeping itself safe from climate change disasters.
