Babar Azam

Babar Azam

Babar Azam stepped down from Pakistan’s white-ball captaincy on Tuesday only six months after being re-appointed ODI and T20 skipper by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Babar shared this news on X. It was expected from him. He wrote that he wants to focus on his batting and would spend quality time with his family. I am sure he would be able to focus on his batting. He has not been able to perform for a very long time. I apprciate his decision.  Babar led Pakistan in 43 ODIs, winning 26 and losing 15. He also captained Pakistan in 85 T20s with a win-loss record of 48-29. Babar’s record as a captain is not at all bad, but he failed to win trophy under his leadership and that was a concern for his team. Babar is a world-class batter but he could not show his skill as a leader. Babar should accept this fact and happily focus on his batting. He has the potential to break many records as a batter and he should do that.   I don’t know who would replace Babar as a captain but I feel wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan should be given a chance to show his leadership skill.
