Overthinking has become a significant issue. While it is natural to analyse our situation, sometimes our thoughts become overwhelming, eclipsing the real concern. We often forget that excessive contemplation can be just as draining as emotional exhaustion.
The tendency to overthink might stem from deep concerns over the resources and connections that are vital for our wellbeing. Among other reasons to overthink many times we are preoccupied with ensuring that we have enough support, love and security from the people and environment around us.
This worry can fuel our overthinking, as we constantly analyse and reassess whether we are sufficiently equipped with these essential resources and whether our connections with others are stable and supportive.
Human connections profoundly influence our emotions, often in ways we don’t immediately recognise. The energy and feelings of those around us can uplift or burden us, shaping our internal landscape. It’s both fascinating and overwhelming to realise just how interconnected we are and how these connections can subtly influence our mood and wellbeing.
Mindfulness comprises being present in the moment, acknowledging our thoughts without judgement and letting them pass without dwelling on them. This practice can help break the cycle of overthinking by grounding us in the present and reducing the incessant need to analyse every detail. Nonetheless, seeking professional help is always a good step, as it provides a structured approach to address our emotional challenges.
