The world is united under the umbrella of the international climate change conference to address global warming, one of the serious threats to the globe (“COP29 unlocks international carbon markets,” Nov.24, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, the COP29 Presidency on Saturday announced the end of the decade-long wait for the conclusion of negotiations on high integrity carbon markets under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. This was one of the Presidency’s top priorities for the year and it drove Parties towards this milestone achievement through intensive dual-track technical and political negotiations.
This strategy broke through years of stalemate and finalises the last outstanding item in the Paris Agreement. Article 6 provides trusted and transparent carbon markets for countries as they collaborate to reach their climate goals.
Climate change has already affected the whole world as the world is witnessing the disasters of climate change in the shape of unusual heavy rain, heat waves, forest fire and horrible flooding.
I am sure the world is fully capable of addressing and adopting the fruitful strategies to counter climate change and the pollution free world for the present and coming generation.
