Pakistan is one of the few countries where the deadly disease, polio, still exists despite the fact that the government of Pakistan is trying its level best to eradicate the disease once and for all (“Pakistan reports three new polio cases, 2024 tally reaches 55,” Nov.25, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, three new polio cases were reported from Pakistan on Sunday, taking the total number of active cases in the country this year to 55, the officials have confirmed. Dera Ismail Khan, a district in the country’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reported six polio cases this year.
There is an urgent need to launch a vibrant polio campaign involving celebrities, politicians and social workers to educate the people of Pakistan about the deadly attack of polio which destroys human life.
It’s so alarming that Pakistan has reported three new polio cases, it shows that there is much more work that needs to be done to make Pakistan a polio-free country.
It’s so unfortunate that even the teams of polio workers are under terrorist attack despite the government’s security protection. The civilian government has to ensure the safety and security of polio workers so that the operation against polio disease gets fruitful results.
