Hats off to our homeboy, Dommaraju Gukesh, who dethroned Ding Liren in a nailbiting final round of the World Chess Tournament to become the youngest World Chess Champion in the world.
Of course, he is the second Indian, after Vishwanathan Anand, who last won the title in 2012, to be crowned the World Chess Champion. His win has put our city back on the global map. It was a remarkable turnaround during the last game.
It was his determination to succeed which enabled him to win the World Title. Well done Gukesh, we are proud of your achievements and wish you the best in the coming years.
