Explore Emirati beekeeping traditions, savour unique honey flavours, and immerse in culture at the 9th Hatta Honey Festival, celebrating heritage, sustainability, and community spirit.
The 9th season of Hatta Honey Festival, organised by Dubai Municipality, kicked off on December 27th till December 31st, transforming Hatta Hall into a buzzing hive of activity. For five days, visitors sampled a delectable array of honey produced by 51 Emirati beekeepers, each with its unique flavour and aroma.
The festival is more than just a marketplace; it’s a celebration of Emirati beekeeping traditions drawing crowds with its vibrant display of locally produced honey. Walking through the festival, I was greeted by a delightful aroma of honey, beeswax, and traditional Emirati spices. Beyond the tasting, the festival offers a glimpse into the world of beekeeping. Workshops and demonstrations offer insights into the craft, from hive maintenance to honey extraction. The focus on sustainability and education aligns perfectly with the Hatta Master Development Plan, aiming to preserve local heritage while promoting economic growth.
Apart from honey, the festival offers a taste of Emirati culture. It’s a wonderful opportunity for visitors to connect with local producers, learn about the importance of bees in our ecosystem, and savour the sweet rewards of their labour. It’s a delightful blend of sweet treats, cultural immersion, and community spirit.
