The smoking ban by the Italian government in the second largest city of Milan that is effective from Jan.1, is a highly laudable and exemplary move for the whole world (“Italy’s fashion capital enforces strictest smoking ban in public places,” Jan.2, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, smoking outdoors and in public areas in Italy’s financial and fashion capital, Milan, is now banned. It’s the toughest extension of a series of bans starting in 2021, aimed at ‘improving the quality of the city’s air.’ Euronews reported that smoking has now been banned in outdoors and public areas in Italy’s second largest city of Milan.
Smoking is injurious to health, and it is a kind of curse for people who are trapped in the unhealthy activity. Despite serious health warnings issued from top doctors in the world, people are unwilling to quit smoking. To convince people who are addicted to smoking to quit is not an easy task which needs government level efforts to save people from the unhealthy activity.
There is a huge campaign worldwide against cigarettes but unfortunately it’s only a verbal campaign, it needs concrete government level measures to get fruitful results.
The Italian government deserves appreciation as it shows the firm resolve to save people and the coming generation from smoking habits and taking government level action against it.
