I have been a huge Bollywood fan. Like eveyone in India, I too grew up on Bollywood movies. Though I was not allowed to watch movies in cinema halls until I was in school but I could feel the noise films would make through radio and newspaper. I am talking about early and late 90s. I must have been 10, but I heard the release of “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak,” “Maine Pyaar Kiya,” and “Aashiqui.” I would listen to songs on radio and would see huge posters all around the city.
People would narrate the story and dialogues of the films for months and months. Everybody would talk about films. Films had the power to attract audience then. But now with the onset of technology and digital revolution, films are losing their charm. More and more films are coming these days, but as an audience, I don’t feel the noise of those movies. I don’t know why films these days fail to create an impact, but I miss the olden days.
