Out of all the award shows taking place lately, the Screen Actors Guild Awards are the most reliable precurser to the Oscars which take place soon. This week we are taking a look at the winners of SAG Awards.
Demi Moore is proof that awards can be won at a later stage in an actors career after winning the SAG Award for best female actor in a lead role for her performance in “The Substance.” Directed by Coralie Fargeat, Moore made headlines for her role as a fading celebrity who is on a quest to revive her career by reversing her age. In this category in the past 30 years, the winner has gone on to win an Oscar 21 times. Moore defintely has a real chance at bagging her first Academy Award.
Timothée Chalamet won the category for best male in a leading role for the biographical music drama “A Complete Unknown.” The win broke records making Chalamet the youngest winner in this category. Chalamet plays the legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan in the flim that depicts his early career up until his contorversial use of electric instruments. In this category, SAG winners have matched with Oscar winners 24 out of 30 times so Chalamet has a high chance of winning his first Oscar.
