From the start of the Israel and Hamas Gaza war, nearly 50,000 people have died so far (“Hamas says ‘positive’ signs for start of phase two Gaza truce talks,” March 9, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, Hamas said on Saturday that there were “positive” signs regarding the start of negotiations for the second phase of the fragile Gaza ceasefire, as a delegation from the Palestinian group met mediators in Cairo. “The efforts of the Egyptian and Qatari mediators are ongoing to complete the implementation of the ceasefire agreement,” Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif Al-Qanoua said in a statement.
The various reports show 48,405 Palestinians and 1,706 Israelis have been killed during the Gaza war, including 166 journalists and media workers, 120 academics, and over 224 humanitarian aid workers.
Gaza has been completely destroyed, not a single hospital or school is left. Israeli airstrikes and ground operations in Gaza have turned the entire Gaza into rubble-strewn wastelands.
The news from Hamas leadership that there is a bright chance for the start of phase two Gaza truce talks brings hope for a Gaza war solution.
