Today in India, everybody is talking about waning charm of watching a film in theatre. This is true. Some says it is because of high cost, other says it is because of OTT revolution. The other day Aamir Khan observed while talking to Javed Akhtar that due to improper marketing techniques footfalls are falling.
Aamir or others may be right in their observation but I feel cinema used to be a relaxing affair for us. I remember I would wait for days and days to go and watch a film in theatre. I am talking about late 90s. During those days films had great story, dialogues and amazing songs. For example I watched my first film in 1993 and that film stayed with me for a very long time. Films used to stay in mind for weeks. We would only talk about story, songs and scenes in our school or college. But now I don’t think people enjoy that much. Race of making more and more films have deteriorated the quality of film. A hero looks the same in most of the film. Bollywood is known for hero-centric cinema so hero should look different. So I feel Bollywood should go back to it’s roots.
