I went to meet my friends on Eid day with my family. It was a great gathering in Dubai. I met with many of my friends after almost a year. I had a great time. We all come from New Delhi, UP and Bihar, so we all share common food. We have same food habits and that makes our gathering more special. But what I did not like was that children were completely engrossed in their phones. They all had their own phones with them and they were more interested in sharing their thoughts on social networking platforms than physical interaction. None of the children were interested in interacting with us and they were competely absorbed in their phones.
This is a very bad thing. We should minimise the use of phones when we are sitting in a gathering. I remember during my growing days, I would sit with my elders and just listen to their talk on different subjects and that’s how I learnt a lot from them. But today’s generation is not interested in listening to elders and this is very bad for them. Children should know that sitting and listening to elders will help them once they start their practical life. Even in the Arab world, the concept of Majlis is very common and revered.
