The Indian Premier League (IPL) is in full swing. Cricket lovers are having a great time watching matches. We are getting our daily dose of great competitive games. What I have noticed is that many young players, despite their name and fame, have not been able to perform as expected. It feels sad to see those young and talented players not performing. They may be under pressure to perform or they may be carrying huge baggage of their fame with them. So many talented players have not been able to perform in the IPL.
I don’t know why but this is a huge issue and this should be addressed. I am sure every franchise has support staff and they look after their guys. Even I feel BCCI should have some kind of assessment where only those players who are ready for leadership positions should be given an additional role, otherwise let them concentrate on their game only. I remember Ravindra Jadeja and K L Rahul had completely failed last year in the role of captain, though both of them are highly competent players at the international level. This year, Rishabh Pant is having the same issue. Extremely gifted batters are struggling this year. I feel sorry for them.
