The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship announced that it has resumed issuing entry permits into the country, commencing today, 24th September 2020.
The ICA explained that the website "smartservices.ica.gov.ae" which has been allocated for issuing resident entry permits witnessed great pressure immediately after the announcement of the initiative from those who were willing to return to the UAE.
"The government has worked remotely with efficiency, during the past months and today it is completing its works from the field after the return of the employees to work," said Sheikh Mohammed while chairing a virtual meeting of the UAE Cabinet, on the first day of government employees returning to work at their offices.
Expatriates living in the UAE were elated as their family members, colleagues, friends stuck in other countries are now able to return as the UAE has lifted restriction on incoming flights from Monday onwards.
MoFAIC and ICA in a joint statement said the decision stems from the UAE's keenness to enable those holding valid residence visas to get reunited with their families after having been affected by the precautionary measures taken under the current exceptional circumstances to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Major General Saeed Rakan said that decision includes residency violators, entry permit and visa violators under which fugitives from their sponsors and work contract violators are included where the violation may have occurred before March 1, 2020.
All government departments have been directed to facilitate the measures for all UAE tourists and visitors in consideration of the ongoing global circumstances, and to cooperate with all authorities concerned to ensure the comfort and safety of all UAE's visitors.
The move falls within bilateral cooperation between the UAE and the State of Israel following the signing of the Abraham Accords and aims to facilitate travel to the UAE for the time being.
Outstanding high school graduates in the UAE can now get the government’s Golden Residency visas along with their families.
The move is an implementation of the UAE Cabinet resolution, under which work permits for Golden Residency holders were created. The Human Resources Ministry stated that such work permits are required in three cases.
