A hat trick of wickets by Pradeep Hegde for Jumeirah Mammoths went in vain after Sheridan Hadfield played a big hand in piloting Nad Al Sheba Mammoths to a comfortable 34 run win in the final of the DCC’s 11th League of Mammoths (LOM) at the Sevens ground in Dubai.
The dependable Hadfield who has rescued NAS on many an occasion once again pulled them out from a hole after Pradeep Hedge rattled NAS with a hat trick of wickets after Jumeirah won the toss and sent NAS in to bat.
At this stage Jumeirah were all pumped up but Sheridan and Rambabu Narisetty stoked their steam with a century partnership before Rambabu was sent back into the dugout after scoring a breezy 56 from 36 balls which consisted three sixes and five fours.
That didn’t stop Sheridan from attacking the Jumeirah bowlers and although wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals at the other end it was his stroke-filled 74 from 39 balls (2x6, 8x4) that catapulted NAS to a formidable total of 192 for 8.
Jumeirah relied on their best batsman Mukund Srinivasan to get them to their target. Mukund came into the final with 206 runs from seven matches under his belt but he ran into Sheridan who could not be kept out of the action.
Sheridan got Mukund and Ambey Parwatkar run out, followed it up with a catch and a wicket which completely put a spoke in Jumeirah’s chase.
Idrees Kapadia held one end up with a steady 45 and Pradeep Hegde kept Jumeirah’s hopes alive for some time with an unbeaten 31 but Jumeirah had no answer to Santosh Kotian (3-36), who ended up with 17 wickets in the tournament to be adjudged the best bowler of the tournament.
