A four-way battle is expected to spice up the new season, which kicks off on Friday with a match between Arsenal and a promoted Brentford.

The top four contenders, who are likely to take the battle down to the wire are holders Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester united and Tottenham Hotspurs.

Despite a pandemic-hit season, which caused clubs and league billions of dollars losses, Premier League giants have splashed out many more millions to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

Holders Manchester City have once again broken club record by signing Jack Grealish for a whopping $138 million. They added more tooth to their attack to launch their title defence.

European champions Chelsea, who defeated City thrice towards the end of last season will be hoping to emulate their performance. They must be are secretly harbouring the ambitions of dismantling City from the throne.

Arch-rivals Manchester United have also spent over 100 million pound on the signing of the Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to launch their assault on the title.

Liverpool, who had won the title prior to the previous season, look refreshed after an injury-ravaged 2020/2021 season.

Despite winning three titles in four season, City did not want to rest on past laurels. They went on to sign Grealish with an eye on Harry Kane. After a comfortable win in the last season, City start as favourites.

Manchester United will also go all gun blazing to end title drought.

They have already revamped the squad with the signing Sancho for £73 million. Sancho joins a ferocious attack which has Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial.

Liverpool vow to come back stronger after a season ravaged by long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip. They put aside their woes with a late surge that saw them qualify for the Champions League with a third-place finish. Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold will be ones to look out for.

Chelsea, who saw a great resurgence under Thomas Tuchel, will be a force to reckon with. He steered them to Champions League final glory just five months after taking charge.
