Under the patronage of Dr Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamad Al Sharqi the Fujairah Tennis and Country Club will organize its first Padel tournament on Saturday to mark the opening of the new facility.

It will be one of its kind facility for Padel tennis players in Fujairah to hone their skills.

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the Emirates Building Federation, will grace the opening ceremony.

The opening round of Padel tennis competition will begin with an exhibition match between Sheikh Abdullah and dignitaries from Fujairah and Dubai.

Padel tennis has been growing at the fastest rate in the world for many years. Currently, there are 8 million players across 57 countries.

In recent years, popularity has increased due to the sport's fast pace, comprehensive nature and ease of play.

Abdul Ghafour Behrozian, Chairman of Fujairah Tennis and Country Club, expressed his delight over addition of Padel tennis courts in the club’s facilities list.

“There is a noticeable uptick in padel popularity in the UAE, and the sport has captured the interests of many people who do not usually engage in active leisure pursuits, but find padel to be both easy to play and social.

“This is obviously one of a kind facility. We have been working very hard to put together probably one of the best padel arenas.

“We are confident this facility will attract people to come and train here,” he said. “We have a great team here to help us, the best of trainers, and a great facility. The doors of the facilities are open to anyone wishing to come and play,” added Abdul Ghafour.
