The competition has drawn participants from various age groups, including kids, youth, adults, and masters, fostering a spirit of competitiveness.

The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation has confirmed that preparations are underway for the third round of Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship - No-Gi competitions.

The event is scheduled to take place from September 27 to 29 at the Al Bayt Mitwahid Hall in Sharjah.

This marks the third of five rounds in the championship, held across different emirates of the UAE during the current season.

The competition has drawn participants from various age groups, including kids, youth, adults, and masters, fostering a spirit of competitiveness and contributing to the continued growth of the sport in the country.

The championship provides a platform for participants to showcase their abilities in No-Gi competitions, which demand high levels of speed, fitness, and technical skill. Players and clubs will have the chance to win medals and cash prizes totaling Dhs1.5 million.

The ultimate goal is to secure the championship title and trophy, which will be awarded in the final round set for December in Abu Dhabi.

The event operates under a comprehensive ranking system that assesses the performance of both clubs and players across all rounds, ensuring fairness and promoting healthy competition.

The championship’s organising committee had previously announced that registration for the third round would close on Monday, September 23.

However, due to the overwhelming number of registrations, it was closed ahead of schedule after reaching full capacity. In response, the committee convened an urgent meeting to address the high demand and decided to extend the competition from two days to three.

They also reopened registration to allow more players the opportunity to participate.

Commenting on the high registration demand, Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The strong interest in the third round of the Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, dedicated for No-Gi competitions in Sharjah, reflects the continuous growth of jiu-jitsu in the UAE.

“This championship is an important platform for discovering and nurturing new talent, preparing them to achieve success at regional and international levels.”

Thani Majid Bin Suleiman, Director of Combat Sports at Shabab Al Ahli Club, said: “We are excited to be part of the third round of the Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

“It offers a great opportunity for players to test their abilities and refine their strategies in No-Gi matches. The championship is also a valuable opportunity for participants from all age groups to engage in high-level competition, helping them enhance their skills and demonstrate their commitment to the sport.

“This aligns perfectly with our ongoing efforts to develop top athletes who can excel at the highest levels.”
