The 10th and final championship of the 1st edition of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup (EAHGC) for the 2024 season has concluded in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The two-day championship was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS), and the follow-up of Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of EAHS.

Held at Saif Al Sham Club, the championship witnessed fierce competition between 95 horses for 65 different owners, as the competitors battled during qualifying rounds throughout the final championship rounds.

Hassan Ahmed Mohamed Suleiman Al Shehhi, UAE Ambassador to Syria, Wahid Mubarak Sayyar, Ambassador of Bahrain to Syria, Mohamed Ahmed Al Harbi, Director-General of EAHS, and Ahmed Hamsho, were all present during the competitions and crowned the winners, while many other officials, owners, and Syrian breeders attended the event as well.

The competitions were held in conjunction with the 10th Syrian National Show Championship for Purebred Arabian Horses, with the opening ceremony including wonderful performances that embodied the authenticity of Arabian horses and their depth in Arab history. Performances included horseback shooting shows, theatrical dance performances, and other folk and heritage shows.

Amira. J wasted no time in bringing home the gold medal for owner A’ adam Bayroty in the Fillies Championship, ahead of Ghalet A.S, the silver medal winner for Abdallah H. Sadeh, while Nour Al Khair landed in third place for the bronze medal for Al Khair Stables.

Taim Al Said Hassan, owned by Khaled Al Said Al Hassan, won the golden medal in the Colts Championship edging over Amal Al Izz for owner Khaldoun Zouby, leaving the bronze medal for Al Boraq AS for owner Abdallah H Sadeh.

The Mares Championship saw Hala Alzenati snag the golden medal for owner Huda Kheti, and Joulyia A.S added yet another medal for owner Abdallah H. Sadeh after earning the silver medal, and Noor AS joined her stablemate for the same owner.

The Stallions Championship was dominated by Izz Alizz who won the golden medal for owner Khaldon M Alzoeeby, and Azad Al Jawadieh was able to earn the silver medal for owner M  Ali Al Rakhlani, while Adham Al Fahed took home the bronze medal for Basel Malhan.

Al Shehhi commented, “We are very pleased with the success achieved in this finale of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup, held in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and are also pleased with the important role that this precious championship plays in affirming the UAE’s continuous support for the Arabian horse all over the world. This comes in line with the vision and support of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed.”

He added, “Sports in general and equestrianism in particular, with its long and rich history, contribute to strengthening soft diplomacy in rapprochement, building bridges of communication, and consolidating ties of cooperation and partnership with many countries, including the Syrian Arab Republic.”

Earlier, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour, the Czech Republic hosted the 9th Show of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup for the 2024.
