Wolves ended a wait since April for a Premier League win by beating fellow strugglers Southampton 2-0 on Saturday.
Wolves boss Gary O’Neil was under huge pressure to deliver after a 13-game winless run in the top-flight and got the perfect start when Pablo Sarabia swept home Matheus Cunha’s pass for the club’s fastest ever Premier League goal.
Cunha smashed home a stunning second goal himself early in the second period to give Wolves a vital three points which sees Southampton replace them at the bottom of the table.
Fulham beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park with goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Harry Wilson while the home side were reduced to 10 men when Daichi Kamada saw red for a dangerous tackle.
Fulham dominated the first half and their pressing yielded the goal when Smith Rowe nicked the ball from Maxence Lacroix and surged forward before getting it back from Raul Jimenez to open the scoring.
Kamada was sent off for lunging into a studs-up tackle on Kenny Tete in the 76th minute and Fulham took full advantage of the extra man when Wilson was put through on goal by Alex Iwobi and the Welsh winger scored his third in two games.
Wilson had another goal ruled out by VAR for handball but Fulham sealed victory to provisionally move up to sixth in the standings with 18 points while Palace are 17th, one point above the relegation zone.
Yoane Wissa scored twice as Brentford twice came from behind to beat Bournemouth 3-2.
Twice the in-form Cherries led through Evanilson and Justin Kluivert.
But the Bees have taken 16 points from a possible 18 at home this season.
Brentford quickly levelled on both occasions through Wissa and Mikkel Damsgaard.
Wissa then completed the comeback with his seventh goal in eight league appearances this season.
Brentford edge ahead of Bournemouth into the top half of the table.
West Ham and Everton did little to quell the discontent among both fanbases in a 0-0 draw.
There were loud boos at full-time at the London Stadium from the West Ham support, but a point does edge Everton four clear of the bottom three.
Brighton hire Niedzkowski as assistant head coach: Brighton and Hove Albion have appointed Daniel Niedzkowski as assistant head coach, the Premier League club said on Saturday.
The 47-year-old German will leave his role as head of the German Football Association’s (DFB) coaches training programme and will begin at Brighton in January.
“I am delighted to welcome Daniel to the club. He will be an excellent addition to our coaching team and will supplement the skill sets of our existing coaching staff,” Brighton head coach Fabian Huerzeler said in a club statement.
“He is somebody I know very well from Germany and I have been keen to bring him here, alongside my other backroom staff.”
Huerzeler, who took over as Brighton manager in the close season, trained under Niedzkowski.
Brighton technical director David Weir said Niedzkowski, who previously coached Germany’s under 21s, would help to develop young players at the south coast club.
“He knows Fabian well from his time with the DFB. He knows what it takes to get the best out of young footballers and develop them into becoming first-team players, which is something that is crucial to our own DNA,” Weir said.
“In his role he will also support the wider development of coach education and formulate a programme which will ensure the highest possible level of coaching from the academy upwards, across both our men’s and women’s teams.”
