The World Air Sports Federation (FAI) has announced the elevation of the Dubai International Parachuting Championship status to Dubai World Parachuting Championship in recognition of the successes achieved by the event over the years, making it a hub for enthusiasts and lovers of the sport worldwide.
This announcement came at the outset of the general meeting for participating delegations, attended by members of the Supreme Organizing Committee, the head and members of the technical Committee, Colonel Nilton Rolim, president of CISM (International Military Sports Council), and others.
Youssef Hassan Al Hammadi, Director of the Supreme Organizing Committee and Vice President of the Emirates Aerosport Federation, hailed the support of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
Hammadi said: "On behalf of the Supreme Organizing Committee, I am pleased to welcome you all to the 8th Dubai International Parachuting Championship (DIPC) which has now been officially upgraded to the Dubai World Parachuting Championship. This achievement reflects the remarkable growth and global prestige the championship has attained over the years, thanks to the collective efforts of all involved."
He noted that Sheikh Hamdan’s commitment to supporting sports has been the cornerstone of the championship's success and evolution.
"On behalf of all of us, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Sheikh Hamdan for his encouragement and guidance.
"I would also like to extend special thanks to Helmut Schlech, who has played a pivotal role since the championship's inception. His tireless efforts and dedication have made this championship one of the most prominent and significant events in air sports worldwide. Helmut, you have left a lasting legacy, and we deeply appreciate your invaluable contributions."
Hammadi welcomed Helmut, who now leads the championship into its new phase.
"We are confident that your expertise and passion will further enhance the success of the championship and elevate its status to new heights. Additionally, it is an honor to welcome President of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), whose presence proudly reflects the spirit of international cooperation and shared values embodied by this championship."
He extended his gratitude to the technical committee and all the members for their tremendous efforts and professionalism.
Hammadi concluded by addressing all the athletes, participants, and attendees, saying:
"Welcome to Dubai! This is your platform to showcase your skills and talents in a spirit of sportsmanship. We wish you success in your competitions and hope you leave with unforgettable memories from this championship."
Meanwhile, in preparation for the launch of the Dubai International Parachuting Championship, Dubai Police held a coordination meeting with the relevant authorities to discuss security arrangements for the event, which is considered one of the most prominent international air sports events.
During the meeting, a comprehensive security plan was reviewed, aiming to ensure the safety of participants and spectators and the smooth execution of the event. The importance of close coordination between various departments, including emergency management, patrol units, and ambulance services, was emphasized to ensure a swift response to any emergencies.
Representatives of the championship's organizing committee commended Dubai Police for their ongoing efforts in providing a secure environment that supports the success of major sporting events. They affirmed that the continuous collaboration with Dubai Police reinforces the emirate's position as a global sporting destination.
