The UAE bodybuilding team secured three gold medals and two championship titles at the 2nd Gulf Bodybuilding Championship, held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
On the first day of the competition, the UAE champions also claimed four silver medals and two bronze medals.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, awarded Khaled Al Mutawa from the UAE team two gold medals in the Classic Bodybuilding and Classic Physique categories, in the presence of the President of the International Bodybuilding Federation, Dr. Rafael Santoja.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed his joy over the remarkable achievements, especially as they coincided with the nation's celebrations of the 52nd National Day. He congratulated the UAE bodybuilding family and the victorious athletes, emphasizing that these accomplishments reflect the significant development of Emirati sports, particularly in bodybuilding. He also praised the efforts of the coaching and administrative staff, as well as the advanced sports facilities in the UAE.
Khaled Al Mutawa’s victories were further solidified with his championship title in both categories, marking a historic achievement for Emirati bodybuilding.
In other results, Adnan Al Blooshi won the gold medal in the Classic Bodybuilding under 175 cm category and also claimed a bronze in the Classic Physique under 171 cm category. The silver medals were awarded to Ibrahim Al Raisi in the over 175 cm category, Mohammad Al Hammadi in the Classic Physique under 171 cm category, Yousef Luqman Al Hammadi in the Classic Bodybuilding under 70 kg category, and Saeed Abbas in the under 75 kg category. Additionally, Sultan Al Zaraa added to the UAE's medal tally with a bronze in the Master’s Bodybuilding category.
On his part, Salah Abdulrahman Bin Ajeel, a member of the coaching staff and national team coach, confirmed that the UAE athletes delivered impressive physical performances and fully deserved their medals, despite fierce competition from athletes of other countries. He described the competition as intense and noted that Khaled Al Mutawa’s two gold medals and two championship titles reflect the esteemed position of Emirati bodybuilding on the international stage.
