The UAE national air sports team won eight medals at the Dubai International Parachuting Championship, which concluded its competitions at the Skydive Dubai.
The championship was held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
The medals won by the UAE team included a gold medal in the water skiing team competition, along with three silver medals in the team accuracy landing competition, freestyle (free-style) team competition, and individual speed competition.
Additionally, Abdulbari Qubaisi, a player of the UAE team, earned three bronze medals in the general individual category, accuracy landing competition, and speed competition.
On this occasion, which coincided with the country’s 53rd National Day celebrations, the Emirates Aerosports Federation dedicated these achievements to the nation's leadership.
Yusuf Al Hammadi, Vice President of the UAE Air Sports Federation and Director of the Supreme Organizing Committee, confirmed that these achievements in this edition of the championship—starting with the international recognition by the FAU and the UAE team's 8 medals—were made possible by the support of Sheikh Hamdan.
The US team dominated the championship, securing four gold medals, including the overall gold medal.
The winners were honored by Yusuf Al Hammadi, Mohamed Yusuf, Deputy Director of the Organizing Committee, Nilton Gomes, President of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), Thomas, Head of the Parachuting Committee in CISM, Helmut Schleisch, Alexi Kol.
Gomes said: "What we witnessed at this championship is beyond description. The organizers and participants exceeded expectations, and the crowd's spontaneous interaction filled the atmosphere with joy and happiness."
Rashid Sisei, the Ambassador of Sierra Leone to the UAE and Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps, expressed delight over the championship's outstanding success.
