Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club took the lead on the opening day of the fifth and final round of the Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship at Mubadala Arena, Abu Dhabi. Competitions for men and women in the U18, adult, and master categories kicked off with hundreds of athletes from leading clubs and academies across the UAE competing on the mats. Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club finished second, followed by M.O.D UAE in third place.
Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, commended the championship’s exceptional level, highlighting its role in showcasing the hard work and dedication of the athletes throughout the season.
“Today, we witnessed matches that reflect strength, performance, and the spirit of challenge in the youth, adult and master categories. The athletes demonstrated outstanding skills and experience, positioning themselves as role models for future generations of athletes.”
Al Dhaheri added that the championship, in its inaugural edition, has established itself as a vital platform for nurturing a new generation of champions who embody the nation’s aspirations and have the potential to represent the UAE on international stages.

Ribamar Santiago, coach of Baniyas Club, added: “The Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship has elevated the level of challenge for all participants and clubs. It unites elite players in a professional and well-organised competitive atmosphere. We are honoured to be part of this prestigious tournament, which serves as a fitting finale to a dynamic sports season.”
He added: “Baniyas Club is competing with 328 male and female players over three days. Our athletes delivered exceptional performances today, with matches testing their skills at the highest level. The fierce competition inspires us to refine our strategies and enhance our performance. We are eager to maintain our momentum and aim for podium finishes in the days ahead.”
Mohammed Khamis Al Farsi, an Al Wahda Club player, claimed the gold medal in the Masters category (69 kg). He said: “This victory is a testament to the effort I put into preparing for this tournament, which featured intense competition that heightened the value of this achievement. I extend my gratitude to Al Wahda Club and everyone who supported me. I am determined to build on this success in future tournaments.”
A total prize pool of Dhs1.5 million awaits the winners, offering extra motivation for the competitors. As the season’s final showdown, this round marks the culmination of months of hard work and fierce competition, cementing the championship’s standing as a platform for athletes to shine and achieve greatness.
