The Sharjah International Marine Sports Club’s Board of Directors convened for its final regular meeting of 2024, led by chairman Khalid Jassim Al Midfa.
The meeting was attended by board members and the club’s general manager at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah. The meeting served as a distinguished forum for reflection, strategic planning, and reaffirming the club’s commitment to advancing marine sports excellence while charting a course for continued success in the year ahead.
The board expressed its heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, along with Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah for their unwavering support for the sports sector in Sharjah, which has been instrumental in achieving excellence across all levels, showcasing the emirate’s distinguished reputation.
The board also expressed its gratitude to Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi and Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Rulers of Sharjah, for their continued support and their dedication to promoting marine sports and strengthening sports institutions in the emirate perfectly aligns with the vision of wise leadership.
The meeting covered a range of topics outlined in the agenda, including a review of the financial statements and the monthly media report. Following this, Ahmed Issa Al Hosani, the Director General of the Club, provided a thorough update on the final preparations for the second edition of the Khorfakkan Marine Festival.
This highly anticipated event will take place under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, from Friday, December 27 to January 5, 2025, at the Khorfakkan Beach.
Hosani highlighted the key events and activities featured in the festival, such as showcases of traditional craftsmanship and interactive workshops designed for children to learn the art of dhow-making. The festival will also organize a variety of cultural and artistic competitions that celebrate maritime heritage.
Visitors will have the chance to experience riding traditional dhows and gain an intimate understanding of sailors’ lives and the intricacies of diving excursions. Additionally, the festival included various competitions and championships focused on marine sports.
Global participation: This year, the festival will showcase teams from GCC countries and Arab nations, along with participants from other countries, which will enrich the festival’s international appeal.
Their presence will not only add a vibrant cultural mosaic to the event but also elevate its prestige on the international stage, creating an unforgettable celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and excellence.
