The Supreme Organizing Committee of the Al Salam Cycling Championship has finalised the route for the ‘Dubai Ruler’s Court Race’ — elite men’s category.
The elite men’s race named ‘Dubai Ruler’s Court Race’ will take place on Sunday, January 19, as a part of the ninth edition of the championship.
Al Salam Cycling Championship is being held under the directives and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.
Organised by the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, this championship is the largest community-based cycling race globally in terms of diversity and financial prizes, offering Dhs3.5 million.
The race details were announced during a committee meeting held on Monday, attended by key members including Mohammed Abdullah Al Mousa, Rami Bassam Al Nabulsi, Jassem Al Jasmi, Razaz Ali, Lama Shamshoum, other officials and representatives from strategic partners such as Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, RTA, Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Sports Channel, UAE Cycling Federation, and Dubai Film.
The elite men’s race will cover 193 kilometers, starting at the Dubai Ruler’s Court in the historic Al Fahidi neighborhood, passing several iconic Dubai landmarks, and culminating at the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve. Participation is open to elite cyclists from the UAE and other GCC countries.
A Tribute to Leadership and Legacy: Omair Bin Jumaa Al Falasi, Director-General of the Private Office of the Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, emphasized the symbolic significance of the race starting at the Dubai Ruler’s Court.
He expressed gratitude for the visionary leadership of Sheikh Mohammed, whose guidance has propelled Dubai’s transformation into a modern, prosperous city.
“The committee also seeks to highlight the historical and architectural heritage of Dubai, aligning with the championship’s commitment to showcasing the emirate’s unique cultural identity and evolution.”
Falasi shared his hopes for a high level of competition in the elite men’s race, matching the technical excellence witnessed in previous editions. He also praised the success of the championship’s ninth season opener, the Emirati Amateur ‘Sword of Honor’ Race, noting the remarkable progress in participants’ performance and preparations.
Celebrating Dubai’s New Identity: The routes of the four race of the 9th edition of Al Salam Cycling Championship reflect the Dubai Government’s new logo, approved last by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, last year in March.
The logo embodies Dubai’s renewed identity and comprises five elements: The Falcon: A Visionary Symbol, The Dhow: A nod to Heritage, The Palm Tree: Genorisity and Hospitality, The Flag: A Shield of Safety, and The Ghaf Tree: Tolerance and Coexistence.
The championship aims to celebrate these symbols through its meticulously designed race routes.
The ninth edition of the Al Salam Championship will continue with the Desert Race on February 9, 2025, followed by the Women’s Race on February 16, 2025.
As the countdown begins for the elite men’s race, the organizing committee remains steadfast in its commitment to making the championship a premier destination for cyclists across the UAE and the region.
