Engineer Humaid Shamis, Secretary General of both Arab and UAE Karate Federations and competition manager of the Karate 1-Youth League competition, has confirmed that the 2025 edition is one of the most important stops in the World Karate League for youth categories.
Karate 1-Youth League will serve as season opener and will take place from February 20-25 at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah.
He emphasized that its level of competition is no less than that of the World Youth Championship, pointing out that many surprises await the upcoming edition.
Shamis stated: “The Karate 1-Youth League Fujairah round is the only stop in the Middle East and North Africa, making it a highly anticipated event for young karate athletes worldwide.
“The tournament carries numerous challenges and ambitions for participants from various countries, and I expect it to be an exceptionally thrilling edition for karate enthusiasts competing on the shores of the Eastern Coast.”
He added: “Having the tournament under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, gives it a prestigious and powerful presence within the International Karate Federation.
“His continuous supervision of every detail instills confidence in our organizational efforts, motivating us to always deliver an exceptional edition.”
The championship manager further stated: “We are working in coordination with Major General Nasser Abdulrazzaq Al Razooqi, President of the UAE and Asian Karate Federations and Vice President of the International Karate Federation.
“His dedication to overcoming all challenges, along with his coordination with various entities in Fujairah and the International Karate Federation, ensures that the tournament maintains its distinguished standards.”
Shamis highlighted that the Emirate of Fujairah is committed to providing all necessary resources for the tournament’s success, as witnessed in previous editions.
He emphasized that each time Fujairah is announced as the host, a large number of athletes from around the world express their eagerness to participate.
“Athletes have become accustomed to the fact that any tournament hosted by the UAE guarantees excellence in organization, top-tier hospitality, and comprehensive services, allowing competitors to deliver their best performances.”
He also noted that continuous meetings are being held among all working committees, highlighting that the number of volunteers for this edition will be larger than the previous one. “Volunteers play a crucial role in all sporting events we organize. Their efforts reflect outstanding community engagement and strong interaction with our championships.”
