Under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Executive Council, the 6th Sharjah International Paragliding Championship concluded successfully.
The event took place at Jebel Faya in Sharjah, amidst enthusiastic crowds, wonderful weather, and an ideal take-off and landing site—arguably the best in the world.
A total of 58 male and female competitors from 17 countries participated, including some of the world’s top paragliders.
The championship, organized by the Emirates Aerosports Federation, concluded with a large in the presence of Eisa Hilal Al-Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Nasser Hamouda Al-Neyadi, President of the Emirates Aerosports Federation, Youssef Hassan Al-Hammadi, Vice President of the Emirates Aerosports Federation Federation, Mohammed Youssef Abdulrahman, Secretary General, Youssef Al Shahi, and Abdullah Murad Obaid Salmeen (Championship Director), along with members of the federation's Board of Directors.
Officials from government institutions in Sharjah, event sponsors, and team representatives were also present on the occasion.
The Belarusian team, led by Yauheni Viktor, took first place, winning the team trophy with 194 points. The Saudi team, led by Mohammed Abdul Mutal, came second with 375 points and earned the silver trophy, while the UAE team, led by Abdullah Nasser, took third place and received the bronze trophy with 398 points.
In the individual men's category, Sergei Osanov took first place and the gold medal with 13 points.
In second place, Ilyas Yaksi earned the silver medal with 20 points, followed by his teammate Yauheni Viktor and Saudi pilot Mohammed Abdul Mutal, who both scored 20 points and shared third place, earning the bronze medal.
In the women's individual category, the Russian Ekaterina won the gold medal with 320 points. In second place, the Kazakhstani Alina earned the silver medal with 584 points, while Judy Nasri from Syria came third with 648 points, securing the bronze medal.
The closing ceremony also included the honoring of the event’s officials, judges, and key figures supporting the event, such as the Sharjah Sports Council, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Sharjah Civil Aviation, Sharjah Police, Sharjah Municipality, Al Mleiha Municipality, Al Bataeh Municipality, Sharjah Civil Defense, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Caravan Association, and others
