The Board of Directors of the UAE Karate Federation held a meeting, chaired by Major General (Ret.) Nasser Al Razooqi, President of the UAE and Asian Karate Federations and Vice President of the World Karate Federation.
The meeting focused on reviewing the results of the World Youth League Karate Championship, which was held in Fujairah from February 20 to 23 at the Zayed Sports Complex.
The meeting was attended by board members including Rashid Abdulmajid Al Ali, Vice-President of UAE and Asian Karate Federations, Engineer Humaid Shams, Secretary-General of the UAE Karate Federation and Tournament Director, Dr. Abdullah Al Badi, General Coordinator of the championship, Marwan Sankal, Deputy Chairman of the Federation, Dr. Abdullah Al Badi, Assistant Secretary-General, Mohammed Harb Al Shehhi, financial director, and Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, chairman of the competitions committee.
Also present were expert Mohammed Abbas, Executive Director of the Federation, and Hisham Serry, Technical Director of the Federation
Major General Razooqi expressing gratitude and appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, for his support and patronage of the championship, emphasizing that this backing was a key factor in the event’s success.
He also praised the organizational efforts of the organizing committee and all teams and entities that contributed to delivering an outstanding edition of the championship, highlighting its positive impact on the UAE’s reputation as a global sports destination.
The meeting included widespread appreciation for the opening ceremony, with board members expressing admiration for the traditional performances presented by Fujairah school students, as well as the musical operetta, which was well received by attendees. The participants also expressed satisfaction with the overall level of the championship, which achieved great organizational and public success.
The meeting covered key topics, including competition reviews, the Asian Karate Federation’s Executive Committee meeting, international cooperation—highlighted by an agreement with Kazakhstan—and the success of the new international referees' course organized with the World Karate Federation.
The board also reviewed modifications made by the Competitions and Technical Committees, in coordination with the federation’s Technical Director, to the schedule of the remaining tournaments for the season, with the first event set to take place on April 12, following Eid Al-Fitr.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continuing efforts to develop karate in the UAE and to persist in hosting major sporting events, contributing to the advancement of the sport and strengthening its global presence.
