The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has shut down "Darbar Express Darbar" restaurant locating in Mafraq Industrial City, Abu Dhabi. The mentioned restaurant was found in violation of the Law No. (2) of 2008 regarding food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
In its report, the ADAFSA stated that the closure decision came due to the facility’s failure to abide by the conditions and requirements related to health and food safety repeatedly.
Earlier, three violations were monitored sequentially at that establishment, followed by a warning of closure for reasons related to the low level of hygiene in food handling and preservation areas, which affects food safety and endangers consumers health.
The ADAFSA confirmed that closure would continue as long as the reasons for it continue, however the closed establishments could reopen in case the irregularities corrected and all the requirements necessary to practice the activity were met.

The authority indicated that the closure that was based on the detection of those violations comes within the framework of inspection efforts aimed at strengthening the food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It also confirms the authority’s role to ensure that all establishments adhere to food safety requirements.
Furthermore, the ADAFSA explained that all food establishments are subject to periodic inspection by its inspectors to ensure the compliance with food safety requirements.
It called on the public to contact it, and to report any violation noticed in any food establishment or even suspicion of contents of any food item by calling toll-free 800555 so that the authority's inspectors take the necessary action. This will help ensure food safety for all members of society in the Emirate Abu Dhabi.

The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Abu Dhabi said, “In order to fight off commercial counterfeits across Abu Dhabi, ADDED ran a field inspection campaign with the cooperation of the Abu Dhabi Police, who raided a factory producing counterfeit hand sanitisers bearing the trademark of a global brand and seized all of its contents.”
The ADDED has closed 354 business facilities in Abu Dhabi’s three regions, within Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, which came as enforcement to the directives issued by the competent authorities concerning the application of the preventive and precautionary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

This procedure comes as part of the ongoing inspection campaigns to ensure the compliance with the prescribed precautionary procedures.
The Department stated that 29 business facilities violating the implementation of the preventive and precautionary measures and instructions were closed.
These facilities practise various commercial and service activities across the emirate. In the meanwhile, the Department has closed other 325 facilities in the cities of the emirate (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Al Dhafra) due to the occurrence of COVID-19 infection among the workers of such facilities.
