The UAE sent a plane carrying fresh relief and food aid to the Egyptian city of Al-Arish in preparation for its entry into the Gaza Strip, as a continuation of the UAE’s efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of civilians in the Strip as a result of the worsening humanitarian crisis.
The operation of the new plane comes within the framework of Operation Gallant Knight 3, which carries a payload of 90 tonnes, including 450 tents, food parcels and dates.
The number of flights carried out by the operation from the UAE to the Egyptian city of Al-Arish has reached 238 flights since the launch of the operation.
The UAE launched the Gallant Knight 3 initiative on November 5, led by joint operations in the UAE Ministry of Defence, in cooperation and coordination with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works, the Zayed Bin Sultan Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, and the rest of the humanitarian and charitable institutions in the region.
The UAE aims to provide urgent relief support to the brotherly Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The Emirati efforts included transporting relief aid to the Gaza Strip through 395 aircraft, including 103 aircraft that participated in the “Birds of Charity” airdrop operation, and 6 cargo ships to Al-Arish, Egypt, and northern Gaza from the UAE and Cyprus, and moving 1,243 trucks carrying various aid. The total aid provided amounted to 33,000 tonnes of food aid, health aid, and shelter materials.
The UAE's humanitarian approach towards the Palestinian people embodies its established positions over the past decades by extending a helping hand to them in various circumstances, and continuing this approach in providing humanitarian initiatives to help them in the current crisis.
