Dubai Criminal Court jailed an African maid for 3 months, to be followed by deportation after serving her sentence.

The court also fined her Dhs2,000 and 3,000 Saudi riyals after being convicted of stealing the amount of the fine from a house she worked in on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.

The details date back to the time when an Arab woman filed a report stating that she had been robbed by an African maid who had worked in her house for 4 months.

The victim added that on the day of the incident, the maid went to the waste room to dispose of the garbage, but she did not return home. She added she tried to call her more than once, but she did not answer.

“When I checked her room, it turned out that her personal belongings and clothes were not there, which means that she planned to flee the house,” the woman added.

The victim reported during interrogation that she discovered that Dhs2,000 had been stolen from her bag and 3,000 Saudi riyals from her dresser drawer in her bedroom, so she reported the incident to the police.

According to the case file, the suspect was arrested and on being questioned she confessed to fleeing from the sponsor’s house due to her mistreatment and delay of her salary.

She also confessed that she had only stolen Dhs1,000 from her sponsor’s bag.
