His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the urgent connection of commercial residential buildings located on main roads in the emirate to the sewage network.

The directive was announced during the "Direct Line" programme, which is broadcasted on Sharjah Radio and Television.

In April, Sheikh Sultan had instructed Sharjah Directorate of Public Works (SDPW) to begin completing the sewerage network projects in Kalba Al Saf and Al Ghail neighbourhoods of Al Fraish suburb in Kalba.

According to Eng. Ali Bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Executive Council Member and Head of SDPW, these projects come as part of the sewage plan that the SDPW previously completed in 16 Square, 19 Square (Al Saf 8), Al Qal’ah, Khor Kalba, Al Bardi, Al Oud, Al Qadisiya, Al Sidra, Hitteen, Al Khuwair and Al Saf Residential Complex in addition to the 3,700-cubic-litre-per-day sewage treatment plant.

The final studies and designs for the project are currently being completed, which include completing the sewage network projects that were partially carried out in several phases in some areas of the two neighborhoods such as Al Ghail 5, Al Ghail 6, Al Saf 3, Al Saf 7, Al Saf 8 and others.

Al Suwaidi stressed that the projects contribute significantly to preserving the environment, public health and safety through integrated sewage networks and reducing the need for tanks, thus ensuring smooth traffic flow and strengthening the circular economy.
