Abu Dhabi shuts down store over food safety violations

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture & Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) issued a decision administratively shutting down ‘Itiyadi Foodstuff Trading LLC in Musaffah, Abu Dhabi, which holds trade licence no. CN-4761612, for violating Law no. 2 for 2008 regarding food in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the legislation issued thereunder as well as for its danger to public health.

The ADAFSA explained that the food control report stated that the administrative closure decision was taken due to the facility’s failure to fulfill food safety requirements as embodied in the recurrence of high-risk items that had a direct impact on food safety, poor hygiene and detection of insects in the facility.

The ADAFSA affirmed that the administrative closure order would remain in effect until the facility corrects the violations and meets all the necessary requirements. The administrative closure decision and detection of violations came as part of the inspection efforts aimed at strengthening the food safety system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and ensuring that all facilities meet food safety requirements, the ADAFSA said, noting that all facilities, irrespective of their nature and food products, are subject to regular inspection by the ADAFSA’s inspectors.

The ADAFSA called on the public to communicate with it and report any violations and suspicions in any food establishment by calling the Abu Dhabi Government’s toll-free number 800555, enabling the ADFASA’s inspectors to take the necessary action towards ensuring safety of food for all members of society in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
