The Abu Dhabi Agriculture & Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) issued a decision administratively shutting down Mohammed Akhtar Supermarket LLC. in Abu Dhabi (Musaffah Industrial Area branch), which holds trade license no. CN-2790260, for violating Law no. 2 for 2008 regarding food in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the legislation issued thereunder as well as for its danger to public health.
The ADAFSA explained that the food control report stated that the administrative closure decision came as a result of the facility’s failure to fulfill food safety requirements, thereby affecting the level of food safety.
The facility repeatedly committed high-risk violations that affected the safety of foodstuffs but failed to take corrective measures, the ADAFSA said, noting that five fines had already been issued against the facility and its activity had been suspended for failing to deal with the spread of insects inside the facility and displaying products that had no food tags.
The ADAFSA affirmed that the administrative closure order would remain in effect until the facility corrects the violations and meets all the necessary requirements to ensure the health and safety of food.
Administrative closure decisions and detection of abuses come as part of the inspection efforts aimed at strengthening the food safety system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and ensuring that all facilities meet food safety requirements, the ADAFSA said, noting that all facilities, irrespective of their nature and food products, are subject to regular inspection by its inspectors.
The ADAFSA called on the public to communicate with it and report any violations in any food establishment by calling the Abu Dhabi Government’s toll-free number 800555, enabling the ADFASA’s inspectors to take the necessary action for safe food for all members of society in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
