Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), alongside Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS) , witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the UOS and the AUS.

The MoU aims to establish a cooperation framework between the two universities and facilitate joint initiatives.

Dr Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and Dr Tod Laursen, Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah, signed the MoU during a ceremony held at the American University of Sharjah.

According to the agreement, the two universities will cooperate in exchange programmes for students and faculty members to broaden research options and facilitate the transfer of students between the two institutions at the bachelor's and master's levels.

The agreement also aims to enhance joint academic endeavours, including supporting cooperative supervision of graduate students, conducting joint research activities, and establishing dual academy programmes and short-term specialised programmes.

Furthermore, the agreement includes encouraging the two universities to collaborate on research endeavours and grant applications and joint work in e-learning, consultation, curriculum development, and vocational training.

The MoU also entails organising joint workshops, conferences, and seminars to enhance academic discourse and facilitate knowledge exchange on a global scale.

It also aims to share resources and institutional development between the two universities, which will facilitate the exchange of academic materials, institutional data, and strategic standards to enhance both parties' quality and abundance of resources.

To ensure successful implementation of the memorandum's outcomes, a steering committee will be established to plan and supervise the process. A joint institution will also be formed to support the financing of any joint scientific activities between the two institutions.

This partnership highlights the two universities' commitment to promoting academic excellence, research innovation, and cultural understanding inside and outside the UAE.
