The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, welcomed Armenia’s announcement of its official recognition of the State of Palestine, considering that the recognition represents an important step towards the realisation of the Palestinian State along the borders of June 4, 1967.

Aboul Gheit described Armenia's decision as courageous, reflecting this friendly country's stance on the right side of history.

He said that the expansion of recognition of the Palestinian State reflects a growing conviction within the international community about the impossibility of continuing the occupation and the necessity of implementing the two-state solution.

He also called on countries that have not yet taken this step to make the morally, legally, and politically correct decision to recognise the State of Palestine as soon as possible, considering this an aspect of realising the two-state solution and a genuine contribution to achieving peace and ending the occupation.
