The Indian cricket IPL in 2024, is being dogged by avoidable controversies. Changes made by the managements of the teams, are not being welcomed by the cricket enthusiasts. The Mumbai Indians have replaced Rohit Sharma, the former captain, with Hardik Pandya. The latter is being jeered by crowds, at every ground.

Even we he scores a boundary or a sixer, he is catcalled. When Rohit scores even two runs, he is cheered. Clearly, Rohit enjoys the adulation of the crowds across the country. He is the captain of the Indian team as well. The crowds want to see him, as the captain of the MI team.

Similarly, the CSK player M.S. Dhoni, comes to bat between number 5 to No. 7 position. The fact, however, is that the massive crowds at the CSK matches, are delighted to watch Dhoni. He too, is not the captain anymore, though the crowds want him as the leader. Whilst Virat Kohli leads the RCB, Bangalore, batting order, he too is no longer captain.

The fact is that Dhoni, Rohit and Virat are the three darlings of the Indian crowds. The managements of various franchises should let Dhoni, Rohit and Virat lead their teams, as captains.
