The Oscars have finally happened. The 96th Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles with Hollywood’s elite all gathering for the prestigious ceremony. This week we take a look at all the winners as well as some of the losers.

The awards were hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the fourth time and probably the last judging by the expressions in the audience as the camera panned to their famous faces after his less than funny jokes. Other than Kimmel, the biggest talking point of the night had to be “Oppenheimer” and its seven awards.

Christopher Nolan won Best Director for the biopic which was nominated for a total of 13 awards. As well as Best Picture, actor Cillian Murphy won Best Actor in a leading role and Robert Downey Jr. won Best Supporting Actor for the film.

Best Actress in a leading role went to the super talented Emma Stone for her performance in “Poor Things.” There was some drama surrounding this as some members of the audience were shocked that the award did not go to Lily Gladstone for the film “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

In the Best Actress in a supporting role category, Da’Vine Joy Randolph ended up winning for “The Holdovers.” The category was very competitive with the likes of Emily Blunt, America Ferrera, Danielle Brooks  and Jodie Foster all nominated.
